 The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is a re-creation of a legendary ancient library from the time of the Greeks. The library has been rebuilt, restoring Alexandria to its former prominence as a center for study and exchange while also providing the city with a landmark structure. The spirit of international cooperation with which the library was planned, funded, designed, and implemented has been preserved in its administration, resulting in an institution with a truly global perspective. At the same time, the structure is technically impressive.
